Woofie

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved dog, Woofie, who left us peacefully at the age of 15. Woofie entered our lives unexpectedly in August of 2009, a surprise gift from Grandma Sue, who knew that little Reagan needed a furry companion. True to her spontaneous nature, Grandma Sue showed up with the most adorable ball of fur that we could not say no to, and from that moment on, Woofie was a part of our family.

Woofie, lovingly named by Reagan, quickly became her constant friend and confidant. Whether playing softball, engaging in imaginative play with American Girl dolls and Barbies, or enjoying swim lessons in the bathtub, Woofie was always by Reagan’s side. Their bond was a beautiful testament to the special connection between a child and her dog. Woofie slept beside Reagan every night, even if it meant he had to climb the stairs to the top bunk, proving to be a steadfast and loving companion.

Woofie’s gentle spirit and boundless affection extended beyond our family. When we brought Scout and then Cocoa into our home, he welcomed them with grace and kindness, always willing to share his humans, his food, toys and his heart. His love for every person and animal he met was unmatched, and his presence enriched our lives in ways words can hardly express.

As he grew older, Woofie faced the challenges of aging with dignity. Despite losing his hearing, he adapted with remarkable resilience, relying on his keen sense of touch and vibration to navigate his world. He continued to find joy in the simple pleasures of life—sleeping in, taking long naps, and occupying his favorite spots on the couch, always close to his humans.

Woofie’s final night was a testament to his unwavering love for us; he held on as long as he could, a reflection of the immense love he carried in his heart. Though we mourn his loss deeply, we find solace in knowing he is at peace, reunited with our Lord and other cherished loved ones.

Woofie will forever be remembered for his immense heart, his loving nature, and the joy he brought into our lives. We miss him dearly but are grateful for the time we shared with our extraordinary boy. Rest in peace, Woofie. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. June 29, 2009 - September 13, 2024
